Privacy Policy
The Supplement Post ("we", "us", "our") respects your privacy. This policy explains what personal data we collect, how we use it, who we share it with, how long we keep it, and the rights you have over it. By using thesupplementpost.com (the "Site"), you agree to this policy.
1. Who we are
The Supplement Post is an independent editorial site that reviews dietary supplements and publishes educational content about men's and women's health, weight management, brain health, and other wellness topics. We are the data controller for personal data collected through this Site. To contact us about this policy, email [email protected].
2. Information we collect
We collect personal data in three ways:
2.1 Information you provide directly
- Quiz responses — when you take one of our supplement-match quizzes
(e.g., the men's health quiz at
/quiz/men-health), we collect: first name, email address, gender, country, and your answers to the quiz questions (primary concern, symptoms, lifestyle factors, ingredient preferences, format preference). - Email opt-in — if you check the consent box on the quiz, you also agree to receive periodic educational emails from us about men's health and natural treatments. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link in every email.
- Direct contact — if you email us, we keep your message and reply for as long as needed to handle your request.
2.2 Information collected automatically
- Analytics — we use Google Analytics 4 (via Google Tag Manager) to understand how visitors find and use the Site. This includes IP address (truncated), browser type, device type, pages viewed, time on page, referrer, and approximate location at the city level. We do not use Analytics to identify you personally.
- Cookies and similar technologies — see Section 6 below.
2.3 Information from third parties
We do not buy email lists or import contact data from data brokers. The only third-party information we receive is aggregated traffic and conversion data from advertising and analytics partners.
3. How we use your information
- Deliver your quiz result — to match you with the most relevant supplement based on your answers and to send the result to your email.
- Send educational content — only if you opted in. Topics include supplement reviews, ingredient breakdowns, and natural-treatment guides relevant to the quiz category you took.
- Improve the Site — analyze aggregated quiz responses and traffic patterns to improve content quality, recommendation logic, and user experience.
- Comply with the law — to meet legal obligations and respond to lawful requests from authorities.
Legal basis under GDPR — we process your data based on your consent (email opt-in, quiz submission), our legitimate interest in operating and improving the Site (analytics), and legal obligation where applicable.
4. Email service provider
Quiz signups and email broadcasts are processed by a third-party email service provider (such as MailerLite or Mailchimp). When you submit the quiz with the opt-in checked, your first name, email, and quiz responses are transmitted to that provider so they can send your match and our newsletter. The provider stores your data in compliance with their own privacy policy and applicable data protection law. You can unsubscribe at any time, which also removes you from the provider's sending list.
5. Affiliate links and recommendations
The Supplement Post participates in affiliate programs. When you click a product link on our Site or in our emails and make a purchase, we may earn a commission at no extra cost to you. The affiliate network (not us) may set cookies on your device to track that referral. See our full disclosure statement for details.
6. Cookies and tracking
We use the following categories of cookies and similar technologies:
- Strictly necessary — required for the Site to function (e.g., session preferences). These cannot be disabled.
- Analytics — Google Analytics 4 cookies (
_ga,_ga_*) used to understand aggregated traffic patterns. - Affiliate / advertising — set by affiliate networks when you click a sponsored link, used to attribute purchases to our referral.
You can disable cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may limit some features of the Site. To opt out of Google Analytics specifically, you can install the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on.
7. Sharing your data
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal data. We share data only with:
- Service providers that help us run the Site (e.g., email service provider, analytics, hosting). These providers are bound by contract to use your data only for the services they provide to us.
- Authorities when required by law, court order, or to protect our rights, users, or the public.
- A successor entity in the event of a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets — with notice to you and continued protection of your data.
8. Data retention
- Quiz responses + email — retained as long as you remain subscribed. If you unsubscribe, your contact record is deleted from our active list within 30 days and from backups within 90 days.
- Analytics data — Google Analytics data is retained for 14 months by default (configurable in Google's product).
- Email correspondence — kept for up to 24 months after the last interaction, unless legal obligation requires longer.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Correct inaccurate or incomplete data.
- Delete your data ("right to be forgotten").
- Restrict or object to certain processing.
- Withdraw consent for email communications at any time.
- Data portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured format.
- Lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g., the ICO in the UK, your EU national authority, or the FTC in the US).
To exercise any of these rights, email [email protected]. We will respond within 30 days.
California residents (CCPA) — you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any "sale" of personal information (we do not sell personal information). To exercise these rights, contact us at the email above.
10. Security
We use industry-standard technical and organizational measures to protect your data (HTTPS encryption in transit, access controls, vetted service providers). No system is 100% secure, but we work to keep your data safe and to notify you promptly if a breach affects your information.
11. Children
Our content is intended for adults aged 18 and over. We do not knowingly collect personal data from anyone under 18. If you believe a minor has submitted information, contact us and we will delete it.
12. International transfers
Our service providers may be located outside your country of residence (typically in the United States or European Union). When personal data is transferred internationally, we rely on adequacy decisions, Standard Contractual Clauses, or similar safeguards as required by applicable law.
13. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent changes. Material changes will be communicated via email (if you're subscribed) or a notice on the Site.
